Tuesday 19th September Racing Preview

Every Tuesday, I’ll be on SEN Track to pick out some interesting races worth running an eye over. On the radio, we’ll mostly be reacting to late market moves, but there is enough to mention right now.

We begin our Tuesday of racing at Swan Hill for Race 2. It is a cracking spring day in Victoria, which should provide some ideal conditions for a good race! Despite the small field and the favourite #3 Takashima being a short-priced $1.70, it is a tricky race to pick, with the #2 Nuts ‘n’ Bolts presenting some stellar value. Takashima will be making his career debut this race and has shown some quick and skilled ability during his trial runs, so it is no surprise as to why punters are backing him. With Jarrod Fry in command of the reins, I expect him to showcase that race ability and go well. Nuts ‘n’ Bolts comes into this one after just missing the placings while starting as the favourite in his last start. He will be coming in with better race experience, which could push him over the line ahead of the rest of the field, and he is primed to snag a maiden win.

Sticking at Swan Hill, Race 3 has been getting a lot of attention from punters, with a lot of early and sharp money coming in for the #6 Adlerian. Adlerian ran on well 1st up at Pakenham Synthetic, where she finished second. She does like to stay in the midfield before finding some space and making a charge down the final straight. She also exhibits good race craft, and she showcased that in her last start where she got held up rounding the bend but managed to get through it and finish in the placings. If she is afforded a better run this time around, she could come away with a win and some very happy punters. The favourite #7 Arabian Melody hasn’t seen much early action come in for her, but with her back-to-back placings since her return, it would be quite a shock if we don’t see movement with her price coming closer to the jump. She does start with a wide draw, but she has continued to show improvement and will no doubt push the rest of the field come the final straight. I also quite like the #10 Miss Dartmouth who will be making her debut but looked quite dominant in her recent trial where she won by almost a full length. She looks to be quite an intelligent runner, and at close to $6, provides great value. If there are significant market moves, I’d be looking at her as a value selection.

Making our way up to Queensland for Mackay Race 6, where it’s shaping up to be an open race. The majority of the early money has been coming in for the #11 Flying Shamus, who will be primed for another career win after finishing in back-to-back seconds in her last two starts. With a lot of pace runners across the field, a good draw has greater importance for this race, and Flying Shamus has lucked out with Gate 1. She is a track specialist here and in career-best form, and if she is afforded a trouble-free run here, she looks set to keep her track record intact today. #4 Single Honor comes into this race as the favourite with back-to-back wins before going on a break. Coming into this race with a strong trial win should suggest that a lengthy break wouldn’t have been an issue for him and should pose some strong competition come the final straight. #3 Chameleon Choice is another track specialist here, winning two out of her three races at this track. She came back from a quick freshen up for a strong third and loves to lead and set the pace for the race. Fitness was an issue in his last start, but he comes into this a lot fitter. If he can hold onto the pace and keep his fitness, he is a genuine winning hope.

For our final race for the day, we head to Corowa for Race 5, where the early money has come in for the #2 Fire and Gemstone and the #4 Sandastan. Sandastan has had a bit of trouble as of late and hasn’t looked threatening, but those races have been in tougher company and longer distances. With a drop back to his preferred distance, this looks to be one of his easiest races to date and looks ready to fire on all cylinders. Fire and Gemstone at $10 has received some attention; however, he is a runner that loves to move forward and set the pace, which could be an issue come the final straight if his fitness doesn’t hold up. With other runners preferring to sit back before turning on the jets, it could be an issue, but his pace could also stretch the field and give the other runners something to chase. After all, $10 is some superb value.

That’s all for today; thanks for following along, and don’t forget to tune into SEN Track to hopefully snag some wins. BOOM!
