Every Tuesday, I’ll be on SEN Track to pick out some interesting races worth running an eye over. On the radio, we’ll mostly be reacting to late market moves, but there is enough to mention right now.
With sunny conditions forecasted all across the country today, we are setting up for what should be a cracker of a Tuesday. To start the day of racing we will be beginning with Muswellbrook Race 2. #3 Barry’s Lane has seen some sharp money come in for him this morning and it really doesn’t surprise me as to why. He had a relatively tough run last start but fought well and ended up making it two wins from his last three starts albeit it being a dead heat, but nonetheless is racing in some stellar consistent form. Will be carrying more weight this time round but will be running shorter distance and at $3.45 upon writing is value for punters going against the favourite. #5 Press Lightly is opening as the market favourite at $2.90 and she comes into this race with quite an impressive career record, finishing on the podium in five of her six starts. She comes into this race a lot fitter and showed in her last start that she has great race craft by charging hard home from the rear, and as the favourite I’d be looking at her to be among the leaders come the final straight. #1 Hallowed Son returned from a long spell with a nice 1stUp win and will be back racing in a preferred distance. Like the other two runners mentioned, he does like to sit back before making a final charge home and with his handy draw, he could find himself in a situation to snag a second win in three runs.
Moe Race 6 is where we will be heading for our second race of the day. So far this morning, it is looking like it should be quite a competitive race, with multiple runners coming in with a preference to lead. This could see the field become quite stretched which could alter race strategies coming into this one. The favourite #4 Cyclone Sally has received some early action from punters which has her price drop from as high as $5.60 to $2.90 as of writing. She comes into this with quite a favourable draw and loves to lead. She led all the way two starts back to win but faded among stronger company to finish 3rd last start so it will be interesting to see if she takes advantage of her good draw and just sit back while the other speed runners charge to lead. #1 Huguenot is one of the runners coming into this with not the best recent record, but those runs were run in tougher company. He loves to lead and the rise in distance will suit him nicely as most runners will be looking to chase him down, especially since coming in lighter in weight.
Making our way up North for Yeppoon Race 5, it is shaping up to be a two-horse race according to the market with the #1 Aspen Lad and #3 Cochrane both getting the attention of punters, with both runners floating around the $2.50 mark. Cochrane has been quite unlucky in his last two races finishing in back-to-back seconds, but with a quick 7 day back up and a favourable draw to get the perfect run, he can get away from the pack and be the first past the post, which should make punters quite happy. Aspen Lad has also been quite disappointing as of late with his lack of fitness. He loves to blast to the front and lead but can never seem to hold on. He does come into this with a decent 3rd up record, but his level of fitness will be the main concern going into this race. In terms of a value pick, the #2 Golden Athena will be coming into this with confidence after securing a nice win last start over 1200m. Unlike the two favourites, she likes to sit back before finding some space and making a charge. This strategy could be quite beneficial for her especially since both the favourites have been known to gas towards the end of the race. Provided she can hold her current form, $8 screams value.
Finally, to end our Tuesday this week, our final race will be at Moruya for Race 6, where we have some sharp money come in for the #8 Chasing A Quid who has been on a consistent run of form as of late, with his last win being at Moruya and did perform admirably in higher grades. Would be quite an impressive run if he can pull off a win but I personally see other runners in this field coming away with a win. #7 Ballistic Therapy is one of those runners I am most confident about and at $5 is some decent value. Will be coming into this after a win at Moruya last start and will be looking to go back-to-back if she can get the right run which would be a superb end to the day.
Thanks for following along, and don’t forget to tune into SEN Track to hopefully snag some wins. BOOM!
