It is surprising given the fact Ricky Stuart has named two debutants, dropped his captain and has put together such a ramshackle team that the Raiders opened favourites in this one. The Sharks have a fearsome pack and add quality playmaker Nicho Hynes debuting. The Sharks have covered six of their last nine away from Shark Park while Canberra cover at a poor 40% when at Canberra Stadium.

Brisbane ($3.60) v South Sydney
The Rabbitohs look to be significantly overrated heading into the 2022 NRL season. They have lost Wayne Bennett as coach and Adam Reynolds as the key organising half and goalkicker. Latrell Mitchell will also miss the opening week through suspension with his replacement Blake Taafe now in doubt. The Broncos have recruited well and should be a tougher outfit if nothing else this year. An upset is not beyond the realms here.

Ronaldo Mulitalo First Tryscorer ($16) v Canberra
Winger-cum-centre Ronaldo Mulitalo has a tremendous tryscoring record against Canberra with five tries in five games. He looked sharp in the trials and will be marking up against either a debutant or the inexperienced Matt Timoko. He will be crossing and it could well be first.
