A-League Weekend Preview

Wellington Phoenix v Western United

Western United will be out to claim top spot this weekend with a game against the bottom placed Phoenix. Western United have not played since the start of January and it will be a test of their match fitness. On the other hand, the Phoenix have had the luxury of an FFA cup game in between the period, but they will struggle against a strong John Aloisi side who are wanting their top spot back.

Prediction: Western United 2-0

Best Bet: Western United win at $2.40

Sydney FC v Perth Glory

Sydney have been a disappointing team this season, as they are not their usual attacking selves. After a 1-1 draw last week against Brisbane, they will be out for victory this weekend against the Glory. The Glory on the other hand, have had Covid related travel problems recently and will look to come out and attack. Daniel Sturridge, the big summer signing has got some minutes into his legs and will look to score his first ever A-League goal for the club.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Best Bet: Daniel Sturridge anytime goal at $3.20

Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United

An interesting clash awaits these two teams on the weekend, as Brisbane look to keep in touch with the top 6. The Roar having beaten Perth mid-week will go into the game with full confidence but will have to challenge a Reds outfit who were strong last week against the reigning premiers. The Reds looked dominant against City but, they will have to be wary of their defense as they have been leaking many goals this season.

Prediction: Adelaide 2-0

Best Bet: Adelaide win at $2.78

Central Coast Mariners v Melbourne City

The Mariners have been the surprise packet of the competition this season and it will be a challenge for them this week up against Melbourne City. City will want to keep up with their cross-town rivals Victory who are currently on top of the ladder. City’s forwards have been doing the damage in front of goal, but it is the defense that have let them down in recent games. For the Mariners, they are coming off a big win against Sydney in the FFA Cup semifinal, and will take the confidence into this week’s game.

Prediction: Melbourne City 2-1

Best Bet: Andrew Nabbout anytime goal at $2.36
