A-League 2021/22 Round 5 Preview

Western United v Adelaide United

Adelaide travel to Melbourne without winning a game and will be desperate to pick up the three points. They will face a Western United side who are in top form with John Aloisi’s men winning three of their four games so far. Adelaide on the other hand have been disappointing and losing at home to the Victory last week will fire them up, and hopefully pick up the three points.

Best Bet: Western United win at $2.19

Prediction: Western United 1-0

Central Coast Mariners v Western Sydney Wanderers

The Mariners have been the surprise packet this season and will be on a high after last week’s win against Sydney. The two-nil win was comprehensive and this week will be out to get the Wanderers. The Wanderers on the other hand have been disappointing and will look for their second win of the season but against a spirited Mariners squad, they will be hard to crack.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 at $1.73

Prediction: 2-2 draw

Melbourne City v Melbourne Victory

The Melbourne Derby kicks off on Saturday night when two fierce rivals go head-to-head. Both teams are in good form with both winning their games last round. Victory will look to continue their strong start to the season but again, will be up against a City squad full of superstars. This game looks to be a feisty one and there could be some red cards involved as there has been history amongst these two teams.

Best Bet: Melbourne Victory win at $4.95

Prediction: Melbourne Victory 2-1

Brisbane Roar v Perth Glory

*No game due to COVID

Macarthur Bulls v Newcastle Jets

The Bulls will want to extend their lead at the top of the ladder and will have a good chance this week against the Jets. It will be an entertaining game as both teams have been high scoring all season. The Jets will be looking for goals and have the top two goal scorers in the league with Beka Mikeltadze and Valentino Yuel with three goals each.

Best Bet: Lachlan Rose anytime goal at $2.82

Prediction: Macarthur 2-1

Sydney FC v Wellington Phoenix

Sydney FC will be looking for their first victory this week, and have been rather disappointing to date. They will face the Phoenix who had a big defeat last week to the Jets, and will look to bounce back with Gary Hooper looking to fire up. Sydney will also look to bounce back after a shock defeat to the Mariners and with only two goals next to their name, it will be difficult for them to fire.

Best Bet: Adam Le Fondre anytime goal at $2.01

Prediction: 1-1 draw
