Wellington Phoenix v Western Sydney Wanderers
Wellington are looking to continue their winning ways this week after an impressive performance last week against Central Coast. Gary Hooper ($4.55 first goal), currently the league’s top scorer will be salivating again this week and would want to keep his streak going. The Wanderers, again have had not had trouble scoring goals but will want to keep their defence in tip top shape to counter any danger from Gary Hooper.
Prediction: Wellington 2-1
Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United
Brisbane remains the only team to not pick up any points this season, and will want to turn that around with their first home game of the season. After a disappointing loss last week against the Victory, the Roar will go in as favourites at $2.23 this weekend. Adelaide last week had a great escape against City, and will be hoping it is a different story this week and look to win their first game of the season.
Prediction: 2-2 draw
Sydney FC v Newcastle Jets
Sydney is looking to bounce back after a shock defeat last weekend to the bulls and will have to battle it out against the Jets. Both teams, who are winless, will want to get off to a great start, with Newcastle also having a disappointing start to the season. Newcastle have shown their ability this season and will go in as underdogs, and at $4.60, provides some excellent value.
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Melbourne City v Western United
City let one slip last week in the last minute against Adelaide after leading the game 2-0. Another local derby awaits them, this time against Western United, and it will be a game where the front three in Leckie, Mclaren ($2.80 first goal) and Nabbout are licking their lips. Western United won their first game last week, but against a red hot Melbourne City side, it will be a very tough ask for John Aloisi’s men.
Prediction: Melbourne City 3-0
Macarthur Bulls FC v Central Coast Mariners
The Bulls last weekend had one of their best wins to date, with a 1-0 victory against Sydney FC, and again will look to keep up the form against the Mariners this weekend. Lachlan Rose ($2.82 anytime goal) will want to keep up his impressing goal scoring form. The Mariners are looking to bounce back after their loss last week but it will be a tough challenge against a rampaging Bulls side.
Prediction: Macarthur 2-1
Melbourne Victory v Perth Glory
Victory go into the game as the only team who has won their opening two games of the season. Victory ran rings around Brisbane last week and again will look to emulate that form against the Glory and go in as favourites at $2.08. Perth will be hopeful of goals this week and will want their star striker Daniel Sturridge to get minutes in his legs.
