A-League 2021/22 Round 2 Preview

Western United v Perth Glory

Both teams had disappointing results in round 1 and both are looking for the first win of the season. Perth will be looking to start star forward Daniel Sturridge ($2.58 anytime goal) after their 1-1 draw with Adelaide. Western United will look for goals this week after being kept scoreless in their first game, with Alessandro Diamanti looking to lead his side to victory.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

Wellington Phoenix v Central Coast Mariners

The Phoenix will be playing their first home game, albeit in Wollongong this weekend and will be searching for their first victory. Gary Hooper ($2.46 anytime goal) will look to continue his goal scoring ways for the Phoenix, but the Mariners will look to continue their winning form, and at $3.10 provides some good value.

Prediction: Wellington 2-0

Sydney FC v Macarthur Bulls FC

Another local derby between the two Sydney teams see Sydney FC take on Macarthur. Sydney were disappointing in their nil all draw against the Wanderers, and this week will look to capitalise going in as favourites at $1.88. The Bulls will want to continue their goal scoring ways, but it will be a tough outing for the new boys.

Prediction: Sydney 2-1

Adelaide United v Melbourne City

Melbourne City looked sharp against the Roar last game, with the front three looking ominous. Jamie Maclaren is back to scoring goals ($3.20 first goal) and will look for more against the Reds. Adelaide played out a 1-1 draw and will be looking to take down the reigning premiers in their first home game of the season.

Prediction: Melbourne City 3-1

Melbourne Victory v Brisbane Roar

Victory will go in as favourites ($2.25) against the Roar this weekend and will be looking to perform again, this time in front of a home crowd. Victory looked comfortable in their first game running out 1-0 winners, but will have a challenge against the Roar who held out well against last year’s premiers despite the loss.

Prediction: 2-2 draw

Western Sydney Wanderers v Newcastle Jets

The Wanderers will be looking to get the ball rolling after a scoreless draw against the grand finalist last week, and will head in as favourites at $1.86. The Jets, also looking for their first win will go into the game as underdogs, but hoping to keep their defense strong and not concede too many goals.

Prediction: Wanderers 2-1
