Melbourne City v Brisbane Roar
Melbourne City will be the team to beat again this season, and they will only be strengthened by Matt Leckie who has returned home from his time in Berlin. He will bolster the attack which includes Golden Boot winner Jamie Maclaren ($2.84 first goal scorer) and superstar Andrew Nabbout. They will start their defense against a Roar side who have lost some notable players, one of them being Dylan Wenzel-Halls who has joined Western United.

A juicy derby to start the season between the two Sydney teams. Sydney FC are looking to overcome their grand final heartache to reach the pinnacle of the A-League once again this season, but it will be a tough ask first up against a WSW side bolstered by Jack Rodwell and acquiring former Victory player Adama Traore. This match is shaping to be a belter with Sydney’s attack of Adam La Fondre ($1.90 anytime goal) and Bobo ($2.12 anytime goal) hungry for goals, which will be a challenge for WSW defense.

Western United v Melbourne Victory
Another local derby to start the season, this time between the new boys of Melbourne and the old boys of Melbourne. Melbourne Victory are looking ominous with the appointment of Tony Popovic this season and he brings in a wealth of experience. Western United have also strengthened their squad ahead of this season with new coach John Aloisi looking to take his squad one step further this year. Victory is the one to beat in this game and go in as favorites at $2.42.

Perth Glory v Adelaide United
A big game for both teams to start the season, with Perth Glory looking to start of the season on fire against the Reds. Adelaide will be looking to reach the finals again this season but will have to contend against a Glory side first up featuring star forward Daniel Sturridge ($2.30 anytime goal) who will look to be firing right out of the blocks.

Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners
The F3 derby to start the season as Newcastle United are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2020/2021 season. On the other hand, Central Coast are looking to go one step further this year after finishing 3rd last season, but it will be a tough ask against the Jets as they have strengthened their squad. Central Coast though does boast Matt Simon up top and with his experience could lead them to a victory with Central Coast paying $2.82.

Macarthur Bulls FC v Wellington Phoenix
New boys Macarthur will tough it out against the Phoenix in the opening round, which will be an excellent contest for both teams. Both teams have had a solid off season, with the Bulls recruiting some A-League stars. It will be the battle of the forwards this game with both Tomi Juric ($2.34 anytime goal) of the Bulls and Gary Hooper ($2.74 anytime goal) of the Pheonix will look to be firing for the season opener.
